These are not the only drugs available.  All of these drugs have side effects.  Most of them affect your neurotransmitters, how messages are delivered in the brain.  If your doctor prescribes antidepressant drugs, insure that you ask what the side affects are.  Also ask how long you are expected to take the drugs before your depression is healed.  If your doctor recommends taking the drugs for longer than six months, get a second opinion.  Go see a psychiatrist and see if they can come up with a plan for healing your depression that does not involve life long prescription.
